About the Opportunity
The Designer will build relationships with key stakeholders within Flight Centre Travel Group to ensure each brand evolves in accordance with their direction and fit within their individual market segments. The designer will be completing a large volume of drafting and as such, experience in retail drafting in REVIT is essential.
The designer will negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure best outcomes in regard to brand adherence for all retail and office sites. Tasks include maintaining brand standards globally for each brand type through brand fitout guide libraries, drawings and colour boards. REVIT proficiency is essential to enable this. It would be highly advantageous and beneficial if you have had previous exposure to retail or commercial projects.
A key aspect of the role is to stay on trend with global retail design developments and offer options and advice to retail operational leaders of changes that enhance the brand and the retail experience within that brand. Designs will evolve continually and the ability to be agile and work in a high-paced team is required, as well as be able to have fun!
What you will be doing:
Design and Drafting
Construction
The development of the retail brands to facilitate the move from travel agent to retailer
The development of the retail brands to improve operational processes that enhance the retail experience within the stores
Documentation of all aspects of retail brand designs to facilitate the drafting required to complete new, relocation, refresh and refurbishment projects
Detailed documentation of all elements of construction required by onsite builders to build each site location
Management and delivery of all documentation packages for each retail brand to facilitate construction
Liaison with internal and external stakeholders for package delivery
Packages to include, but not limited to:
Floor/ joinery plans
Reflected ceiling plan
Shopfront elevations
Electrical / data plan
Joinery & Signage details
Finishes plan
Working knowledge of BCA & Australian standards
Commercial & Process
Investigate cost-effective construction methods and apply to all documentation
Maintain key stakeholder relationships both internally and externally (including vendors and key landlord relationships)
Maintain external relationships and conduct research to ensure appropriate and current design direction is provided to retail operational leaders (providing options and advice, not waiting for direction)
Utilise and develop the capabilities of software packages to their full functionality to improve the productivity of the build process
What you will need:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the design and specification of retail shops on a national level
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the design and specification of commercial floor space is desirable
Working knowledge of AutoCAD systems – REVIT is ESSENTIAL
Current knowledge of retail fitout processes and detailing of construction items is desirable
Ability to interpret tenancy guidelines and council regulations as it impacts a store’s fitout
Drafting experience in Retail design
Minimum Cert 4 in either Interior Design or relevant building industry qualifications with a strong retail focus
