Product & UX Copywriter
WhereTo is the leading technology team within the travel industry, responsible for building and growing a modern online booking tool enjoyed by companies from startups to Fortune 100 companies. Offering the growth opportunities, size and excitement of a startup with the resources of a publicly traded company, WhereTo operates as a semi-autonomous team of 50-100 engineers, designers, and product managers. Founded in 2016 as a venture funded startup in San Francisco, we were acquired recently by Flight Centre, one of the world’s largest business and leisure travel agencies with offices around the world. Over the next 2 years, we will be scaling and expanding our technology globally.
We are looking for a strong writer to produce copy for both our online booking tool and training/informational documentation for the people who support it. This important member of our team will deep dive into our industry-leading online booking tool to give it the appropriate voice for two brands, write product notes, and keep the business informed.
They will also work closely with our Design & Product team to help define the narrative strategy, interface development, and language systems that are used across all digital product touchpoints. You’ll write for new consumer-facing features, as well as maintaining existing user interface copy, all while collaborating with other functions to create thoughtful and thorough user experiences.
Responsibilities:
Write copy for new consumer-facing features, as well as maintaining existing user interface copy.
Working on feature development, naming conventions, user flows, product logic, and education.
Bringing through the product voice of our two distinct brands (both cheeky/fun and business/formal)
Boiling down complex systems into coherent, concise, and compelling narratives, interface copy, user experiences, and brand strategies.
Learn about the benefits of our new and current features and draft plain English copy in the appropriate voice.
Write product release notes.
Liaise with Product Marketing to ensure product documentation meets the unique needs of the sales, customer support, and implementation teams at FCTG.
Requirements:
3+ years of professional experience writing copy for digital products, marketing, advertising or in the travel industry.
Ability to convert complex functionality into plain English documentation and training material in a variety of settings
A highly organized self-starter able to build process 
Oscillate between left- and right-brained writing, from storytelling to systematic thinking.
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Advertising, Communication, or a related field.
Experience in the travel industry is preferred.
