Job Description

You are a recognised expert in multiple technology domains relevant to the Flight Centre Travel Group and will represent the senior technical leadership. You will be responsible for driving the technical direction of your part of the organization, assisting the Corporate Technology Leadership Team and other senior technical leaders, working closely with Product Managers to support our strategy and customer growth, and engaging with engineers to help drive technical outcomes.
Drawing from parallels of a Team Leader, Solution Architect and Technical Architect, the Principal Engineer will oversee the research, development, and design of significant engineering projects.  With your extensive industry and domain expertise, and your keen eye for technical and solution architecture, you will be an expert communicator and know how to engage with required people to ensure a successful outcome.
Principal Engineers at Flight Centre Travel Group are motivated experts who will create cross business relationships. You will be comfortable engaging with senior business leaders and will be excited to speak with large market customers, bringing your energy and passion to the table to solve problems and provide vision.
 
With your vast industry and technology experience you will have the following skills:
 
Collaborate and make proposals across several teams on their engineering work
Coach engineers to help grow skills, and solve problems
Plan and own the architectural roadmap of technology components
Solves technical problems of the highest scope, complexity, and ambiguity
Guides conversations to remove blockers and encourage collaboration across teams.
Interact with customers (both in pre-sales and account management) and other external stakeholders as a consultant and spokesperson for Flight Centre Corporate.
You are an experience leader of engineers and be able to lead a small team of engineering leads and their engineers.
Play a central role in technical, business, and organizational contributions affecting your domain area
Teach, mentor, grow, and provide advice to other domain experts, individual contributors, across several teams within your domain area.
Have extensive experience (10+ years) working in a wide range of technology tools and products (Java, C#, RPA platforms, Microsoft Azure, C#, UML, Enterprise Integration Patterns, etc).
Know when you need to get your hands dirty and get on the tools, regardless of the tool.
