 is searching for a compassionate, engaged Community Project Coordinator to elevate and support our work in Manggis village, Bali!

About the Opportunity

We have supported Manggis with job creation & employment, environmental and cultural preservation and local enterprises that create new forms of sustainable livelihood. Now we need a passionate individual with a deep appreciation and understanding of Balinese culture to help us continue to enhance and develop community-based tourism here.
 
Your main responsibilities are to:  
Work with the key stakeholders (Manggis villagers, Discova, Cross Hotels) to agree on the vision for Manggis, long term objectives and goals for the project
Ensure that the project scope remains true to the vision and purpose of the stakeholders and sustainable tourism
Coordinate with villagers and Discova internal teams to define the range of experiences/tours required and complete the design of each product
Identify which experiences will be operated by Discova and which experiences will be operated by villagers as social enterprises
Coordinate and promote local skills and entrepreneurial programs for villagers
 
About you
The Essentials:
Deep understanding of the local community and Balinese culture
Tourism or hospitality experience is an advantage (2+ years preferred)
Experience in community projects, NGO or sustainable tourism project/activities

Purpose driven and passionate about empowering local communities and responsible tourism
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Humble, empathetic and culturally sensitive
Good mediation and conflict resolution skills
Ability to build relationships at different levels and across cultures
Able to work under pressure, juggle multiple tasks and work outside office hours when required
Able to work independently and within a team
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Ability to work between Discova office and rural/outdoor environment as required
Computer literacy – must be capable of working with Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word
