Job Description

We are seeking a motivated, experienced, and highly enthusiastic individual to join Flight Centre Travel Group as a Lead Engineer in our Corporate business pillar.
In this role you will make an important contribution to the success of our Corporate Finance business and overall profitability of the Corporate Pillar within Flight Centre Travel Group. You will be leading a talented team to design and develop unique applications focusing on productivity and automation. Drawing on your vast technical and software knowledge, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to idiate, design, develop and enhance applications and services utilising a wide range of technologies and tools.

The role in a nutshell:
 
Constantly looking for ways to improve the process or experience for our customers
Take technical responsibility for all stages and/or iterations in a data engineering project, providing method specific technical advice and guidance to project stakeholders 
Assign work packages, monitors performance and manages change control dynamically, to optimise productivity
Develop data integration points in the Azure environment
Creating pipeline templates for reusability
Deploying pipelines through DevOps Process (Azure DevOps, Git)
Use of modern techniques for data modelling–both relational & dimensional models
Coordinating and managing planning of the system and/or acceptance tests, including software security testing, within a development or integration project or programme
Provide authoritative advice and guidance on any aspect of test planning and execution
You are able to make decisions quickly, respond to emerging challenges, juggle multiple priorities & requests and keep the team (and their commitments) moving on a day-to-day basis
 
The Tech:
 
Experience building and optimizing big data pipelines, architectures, and data sets
SQL Server database development experience, with at least 3 years performance tuning and database architecture experience
Azure Data Lake / Blob (Storage purpose)
Azure Data Factory
SQL Server 2012, 2014 or 2016+
Azure Synapse with demonstrated proficiency in stored procedures, triggers, and index performance tuning (desirable)
Experience in PCI, GDPR, ISO, or other security compliance (desirable)
 
You’ll earn brownie points if you have…
 
5+ years or more of relevant experience
Travel industry experience
The ability to lead, motivate, mentor and develop the team
Expert Java skills (spring, hibernate, spring boot, kotlin)
