The core responsibilities for the Commercial Finance Analyst is the provision of Commercial and Financial  analytical support.  The key element of the role is to provide insights, validation and challenge to the latest commercial thinking within the business.  This will be achieved through working closely with senior business leaders and the wider Finance team. The Commercial Finance Analyst has to be highly confident in communicating and working with Senior Leaders. Strong presentation skills will be key.
Leadership and Teamwork
You will:
As part of the Commercial Finance Leadership team help set the direction of Commercial Finance and champion Flight Centre’s Values and Philosophies
Support the wider Commercial Finance team, to ensure all collective commitments are met.
Work with senior business leaders to provide both challenge and support to current commercial thinking
Financial modelling and Analysis
You will:
Build business cases, including ROI and Payback models to validate commercial opportunities, demonstrating impact on profit and loss and cashflow
Prepare Scenario and sensitivity analysis
Analyse and interpret large data sets, often from multiple sources to deliver insights and recommendations
Deliver at short notice on adhoc analytical requests in addition to more long term projects.
Reporting / Presentation
You Will:
Convert complex data into meaningful and easily understood MI, providing recommendations and insights
Maximise reporting tools, including BI tools, excel etc as appropriate to  deliver readily understood outputs.
Work with BI team and wider Commercial team to establish new reporting as required
Produce High quality presentation of results and findings, often presenting to senior leaders.
Commercial Acumen
You Will:
Develop a solid understanding of the Flight Centre business models, including income and cost drivers
Work with senior business leaders to identify profit improvement opportunities, (revenue maximisation or cost reduction)
Assist with Corporate commercial customer pricing, often working with the Global Corporate team.
Model third party vendor contracts where commitments and exposure are significant, identifying opportunities and risks
Analyse external trends and market conditions to assist in evaluating strategic initiatives and identify commercial opportunities. This will involve accessing external data sources.
Provide modelling to support forecasting and budgeting processes, working closely with the Management Accountants.
Develop a strong understanding and appreciation of local market conditions to help assess feasibility of initiatives in local markets
Requirements for Success
Strong Business Acumen having worked in dynamic commercial environments
Excellent Communication Skills, including presentational and report writing
Ability to challenge and influence senior leaders
Proven Financial Modelling experience, (eg ROI and Payback models)
Excellent Advanced Excel skills and previous experience with BI tools (preferably Power BI); must be comfortable operating with large sets of data
Ability to analyse and interpret complex data sets from multiple sources and provide recommendations and insights
Ability to produce quality work whilst working to tight deadlines.
Highly analytical and logical approach to problem solving
Experience of Scenario modelling and Sensitivity Analysis
Commercially astute; should be able to identify successful profit improvement initiatives
Flexible team player
Degree Level education and Professional finance qualification (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent), or part qualified.
