National Day Celebrations
Several hotels and tourist attractions are preparing uniquely to celebrate the UAE National Day. The day is celebrated on 2 December 2013.
DUBAI MARINA MALL
Dubai Marina Mall will also host an array of cultural activities including traditional dance performances on the Promenade Terrace, a Henna tent, Falconers’ shows, and face painting for kids. The highlight will be live stage performance by the popular Emirati television cartoon series – FREEJ. This will be coupled with roaming parades, and a meet and greet with four famous ladies as well as Abood.
SHARJAH
Mohammed Ali Al Noman, chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) recently announced a number of events that will mark the 42nd UAE National Day. This initiative is being launched with participation of different government authorities, government officials and renowned personalities. From 27 November till 3 December 2013, the emirate will be inviting the community to participate in activities taking place in such areas as the Heart of Sharjah, Megamall, Sharjah Old Car Club, Sharjah University City, the Environment and Protected Areas Authority, the east coast, Al Dhaid and Khor Fakkan. Al Qasba and Al Majaz Waterfront will light up with fireworks and light shows. Sharjah will also witness the rise of three flags at Al Dhaid, Dibba Al Hisn and Kalba.
DUBAI MARINA YACHT CLUB
The Dubai Marina Yacht Club will mark UAE’s 42nd National Day with the first-of-its-kind ‘Boat Parade’ on 2 December 2013. Boating members of the Dubai Marina Yacht Club will adorn their boats in UAE-themed decorations, with the parade set to be held from 2 – 4 pm, from the West Bay to the East Bay. The other activities will be live cooking stations, treasure hunt, and face painting, among others.
OMAN AIR
Thousands of helium-filled balloons were released above Oman Air’s headquarters in Muscat to celebrate Oman’s 43rd National Day. A total of 4,300 red, white and green balloons – 100 for each year since Oman’s Renaissance – were released in front of a crowd comprising all of Oman Air’s HQ1 – and HQ2-based staff, who were joined by additional crowds.
