As we enter the peak summer season for airlines worldwide, Cirium have revealed their monthly on time performance (OTP) report for June 2024.The report shows that flight cancellations within Europe increased by 46% in June 2024, whilst flight cancellations in the Asia Pacific region decreased by 16% month on month.
Cirium’s Global On-Time Performance Report: June 2024
Europe:
· Icelandair is the new leader after being named Europe’s most punctual carrier last month, with 84.08% of flights arriving on-time
· Iberia Express landed second position, with 82.50% of all flights arriving on-time, followed by Iberia taking the third spot with an OTP of 77.69%
· SAS and Finnair also made the top five, offering customers punctual service of 77.08% and 76.11% respectively.
· No UK airline featured in the top 10 of most punctual European carriers.
Globally:
· Globally, Saudia was named the most punctual airline in June, with 88.22% of flights arriving at their destination on-time
· Ending their two-month reign, Aeromexico took second place, securing an OTP of 86.18%, just ahead of LATAM Airlines which took third place with 85.83%
· JAL and Azul took fourth and fifth spots, with 85.10% and 84.83% respectively.
Cancellations:
· The number of cancelled flights within Europe increased by 46% in June 2024 compared to the previous month
· In June 2024, 8,145 flights were cancelled within Europe, up from 5,584 in May 2024
· This is in contrast to Asia Pacific, where flight cancellations decreased 16% month-on-month in June.
