Emirates was named the 2024 APEX World Class Airline winner for mastering the guest experience and providing exceptional customer service at the 2024 APEX/IFSA Awards in Long Beach, California.
Emirates is one of just eight airlines worldwide to receive this honour, as determined by a rigorous audit of its quality of service, safety, and health control programmes. Emirates was also honoured with a 2024 IFSA award for ‘Best Onboard Amenity’ in appreciation of the Emirates Sustainable Economy Class amenity kit, which comes with essential amenities to improve passenger comfort while being made of more sustainable materials designed for reusability.
Emirates was given the World Class designation for demonstrating the highest global standards of safety and well-being, sustainability, and service-guest experience.
The aviation industry praised Emirates for its innovation and commitment to excellence after celebrating a year of record profits, a successful first year of Premium Economy Class, significant investments in improving onboard services, and notable steps towards a more sustainable future.
“Tonight, we did more than merely acknowledge the prowess and passion of the airline industry; we paid tribute to 2024 APEX World Class trailblazers like Emirates, who have unequivocally etched a golden chapter in the annals of air travel beyond five stars. I had the privilege of spending invaluable moments with President Sir Tim Clark at APEX’s FTE EMEA event in Dublin earlier this year. The insights, the vision, and the sheer audacity of Emirates’ approach to revolutionizing the skies carried in every word he shared. Emirates is not just an airline; it’s a symphony of innovation, ambition, and undying commitment to excellence.” APEX CEO Dr Joe Leader commented.
Emirates’ Economy Class amenity kits are complimentary on long-haul flights and contain designs that reflect nature’s four main elements: fire, water, earth, and air.
The pouches are reusable and made of washable kraft paper with custom artwork printed in non-toxic soy ink. The contents contain a variety of long-lasting travel necessities produced from less harmful materials than single-use plastic. The toothbrush is made of wheat straw and plastic, while the socks and eyeshades are made of recycled plastic, namely rPET (recycled polythene terephthalate).
In addition to the reusable amenity kits, Emirates has several other initiatives in Economy Class that focus on using sustainable materials where possible, such as cosy blankets made from recycled plastic bottles, with each blanket made from 28 recycled plastic bottles – an initiative that has saved over 95 million plastic bottles from landfill over the last six years.
With the introduction of wooden tea and coffee stirrers onboard, single-use plastic has been reduced, while paper straws and in-flight shopping bags are created from wood and paper sourced from responsibly managed forests.
Emirates’ complementary toy bags, infant amenity packages, and plush toys are manufactured from recycled plastic bottles and other sustainable materials for the airline’s youngest customers. When flights land in Dubai, Emirates recycles plastic and glass aboard, removing hundreds of kilogrammes of glass and plastic from landfills each year.
