Following in the footsteps of iconic film and television personalities Jennifer Aniston, Chris Hemsworth, and Jeremy Clarkson, Emirates’ latest brand ambassador Gerry, the Goose, is inviting customers to look into the airline’s advantages and services and choose to Fly Better. is inviting customers to explore the benefits and services of the world’s largest international airline and choose to ‘Fly Better.’
Beginning in September, the worldwide ad campaign will remind passengers that Emirates delivers an “impeckable” travel experience on board with award-winning in-flight entertainment, world-class cabin personnel, locally inspired cuisine, and acclaimed drinks.
Gerry ruffles feathers by electing to Fly Better onboard a comfortable and elegant Emirates Premium Economy cabin while his migratory bird-brethren are in “fowl humour” after a long and tiring flight by the wing.
Gerry is shown smugly ignoring his colleagues as they fly outside the plane window while he has a nice dinner and reclines in his large seat to watch “The Goose, The Bad, and The Ugly” on his 13.3″ personal entertainment screen.
“In terms of the skills and profile we seek for in our brand ambassadors – we are widening our wings,” said Richard Billington, SVP of marketing and brand at Emirates.
“Gerry is a savvy traveller who knows exactly what he wants and where he wants to go—but he insists on doing it in style, with luxury and comfort as top priorities.” We are convinced that after seeing his smooth flying experience, his buddies would choose to Fly Better the next time.’
Gerry’s career began at Emirates Headquarters in Dubai when the idea for his journey was created to take flight.
Then it was over to London’s Untold Studios, where the first 3D models of geese were brought to life using Computer-Generated Imagery. The 14-week CGI and shooting process included a creative crew finessing every feather, lighting, and texture while ensuring meticulously choreographed movements brought the character to life.
This includes time spent animating Gerry’s friends, a shoot in London to capture natural images, and a shoot on board an Emirates plane in Dubai.
Gerry, relatively new to the acting field, considers his professional highlight included in the Emirates TV ad campaign.
During production, Gerry worked with British voiceover talent Michael Cronin to portray the dulcet tones of an experienced wildlife documentarist.
Gerry’s ancestors are Canada geese (Branta canadensis), huge wild geese with black heads and necks, white cheeks, white beneath the chin, and a brown body. They are native to North America’s arctic and temperate zones and can be found in northern Europe during migration over the Atlantic.
Gerry, the Goose, admires Ryan Gosling’s performance, which he claims “gives him goosebumps.”
