As rugby fans prepare for the Rugby World Cup in France in 2023, Emirates has taken to the air with its love for the game written on one of its flagships, A380 aircraft.
Over the years, Emirates has made several limited-edition paint designs that have caught the eye of sports fans and people who like to look at planes. This new Rugby World Cup 2023 sticker was made in-house. It was inspired by the fast-running lines of the backs, evident in the delicate lines that run seamlessly through the new livery.
Emirates has been a big part of both local and international rugby for a long time, cheering on teams and making the experience better for rugby fans all over the world. This is their fourth straight Rugby World Cup as Worldwide Partner.
Since 2007, the airline has been one of the sponsors of the Rugby World Cup. It became a Worldwide Partner in 2011 when the event was held in New Zealand, and the host country, New Zealand, won. That year, Emirates put its first Rugby World Cup livery on an A380. It flew to over 40 destinations, including France (a finalist in 2011), Australia (a semi-finalist), and other rugby countries like the US and Hong Kong.
In 2015, Emirates showed how much it loves rugby by painting its A380 A6-EDA in the colours of the Rugby World Cup and sending it all over the world, including to the host country, England, and 21 other places, such as Brisbane, New York JFK, Manchester, and Sydney.
In 2019, Emirates kept up the practice by making a new uniform for the Rugby World Cup, which was held in Japan. Its A380 A6-EEU went to Tokyo Narita Airport nine times and Kansai International Airport four times. It also went to places in the US, Europe, Asia, and New Zealand, even though South Africa won the Webb Ellis Cup in the match against England. People in Los Angeles, New York, Melbourne, and Bombay also saw the sticker.
Emirates is happy to be a part of the Rugby World Cup. Its attempts to promote and get people excited about the event, like decorating a flagship A380 aircraft, show how much it loves and supports the sport.
As the Official Airline of the Rugby World Cup in France in 2023 and Australia in 2027, Emirates will fly rugby to new places and use its outstanding customer service skills to help the host countries put on a truly world-class event for fans travelling there. As a Worldwide Partner, it is putting money into the sport, which will help it grow in both new and old areas. At the same time, fans can watch both Rugby World Cups live and on-demand from their flight seats, which makes the sport more accessible.
The airline’s home base of Dubai has hosted the Sevens competition for almost 50 years. When Emirates began its support in 1987 in collaboration with World Rugby, it was important to develop its worldwide stature. The Emirates Dubai 7s has grown to become the most significant sports event in the region, with over 100,000 people joining the three-day competition in 2022. It is also an official sponsor of the Cape Town Rugby 7s, one of the most popular live sporting events on South Africa’s event calendar.
The airline also sponsors the jerseys of World Rugby’s Match Officials, who wear Emirates ‘Fly Better’ uniforms on the field. Emirates has significant rugby relationships with the South African Emirates Lions and its home ground, Emirates Airline Park, and the Dubai Hurricanes Rugby Football Club.
