easyJet has announced it is to start flying from a new UK airport with a new route from Southampton to Geneva.
It will be the first time the airline has operated from the South Coast airport and aims to provide passengers from across the region with additional options for winter ski holidays or connecting through the Swiss hub.
Flights from Southampton to Geneva will start on 14 December 2017 and operate three times a week throughout the winter on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
The airline expects to fly over 10,000 passengers a year in the first winter served by its Airbus A320 aircraft. Flights are now on sale from £31.99 one way per person.
Ali Gayward, UK country manager, easyJet, said:
‘We are delighted to be announcing that we will commence flights from Southampton – a new airport on easyJet’s already comprehensive route network.
“Many people are already starting to plan ahead for their winter holidays and with flights to Geneva from Southampton, passengers from across the region are able to take advantage of our low fares.”
Dave Lees, managing director, Southampton Airport, said:
“We are very excited to announce that easyJet will be commencing operations to Geneva three times a week from Southampton Airport this winter. I am sure that our customers from across the region will be pleased to have even more choice for reaching the ski slopes from December onwards. We look forward to welcoming easyJet to Southampton later in the year.”
