The inaugural Belfast – Newcastle flight landed on September 1, welcomed by Laurie Scott, director of business development at Visit Belfast, Ellie McGimpsey, aviation development manager at George Best Belfast City Airport and Andy Mathieson, Eastern Airways’ commercial manager, Northern Ireland.
The UK regional airline is now providing a convenient, daily weekday service to the north east of England from the heart of Belfast City. The new route comes just six months after Eastern Airways entered the local market in March 2017, re-establishing the only air link to the Isle of Man, less than 48 hours after the liquidation of Citywing.
