Top 50 UK Restaurant ranking for Orwells, Le Champignon Sauvage and The Whitebrook
The Waitrose Good Food Guide 2017 launches on 4th September. A highly respected ‘bible’ for foodies, The Good Food Guide has been published annually since 1952 and covers the best places to eat out throughout the UK.

The two Michelin starred restaurant Le Champignon Sauvage remains at the top of its game at number 16 of the Waitrose Good Food Guide’s UK top 50. Having never missed a service, Chef David Everitt-Matthias and his wife Helen are celebrating the restaurant’s 30th anniversary this month, an impressive 17 years after they were awarded two stars, the restaurant continues to be regarded as unbeatable value of Michelin star dining in the UK.

Orwells Restaurant near Henley
Ryan Simpson and Liam Trotman, the chefs behind this South Oxfordshire restaurant, well known for its sustainable credentials has been ranked 31 in the Good Food Guide’s Top 50 listing (previously ranked 44 in 2017). The chef duo who’s goal has always been to create an establishment where the ethos is to serve nothing but the highest quality food in a relaxed environment with a focus on sustainability.
As well as winning The Good Food Guide’s Restaurant of the Year Award 2017, they were awarded 4 AA Rosettes which puts them amongst just 52 UK restaurants with 4 and 5 AA Rosettes. Orwells was also included in the Tatler Restaurant Guide and received rave reviews from The Daily Telegraph and The Daily Mail. During this spring and summer, Ryan appeared on two high profile BBC1 television shows.
