The Croatian National Tourist Board has revealed that UK visitors to the Central European destination rose 26% year-on-year in 2016.
In total, 3,307,333 UK visitors stayed overnight in 2016, compared to 2,618,413 in 2015.
Over 91 million people globally stayed overnight in Croatia in 2016 compared to 80 million in 2015, a 12% increase.
In 2016 there were 630,790 UK arrivals in 2016, compared to 510,046 arrivals in 2015, a growth rate of 23%
Ivona Grgan, director of the UK Croatia National Tourist Office commented: “We are delighted that UK tourism to Croatia continues to increase year on year. These outstanding figures are largely as a result of the strengthened flight connections throughout the country, as well as various campaigns by the Croatian National Tourist Board to promote the destination to UK travellers.”
“Our activity has focused in particular on demonstrating Croatia’s extraordinary natural and cultural diversity. From this we have seen an increase in tourism along the Adriatic coast, as well as the lesser known mainland regions, where we expect to continue to see growth this year.”
