Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) has helped the Essex based charity Havens Hospices raise more than £32,000.
During the recent launch celebrations of the company’s ship Columbus, guests on board donated more than £4,200.
Lydia Plews, Havens Hospices said: “Cruise & Maritime Voyages is an important corporate fundraiser for us and we are most happy to receive this cheque. Over the past two years, the company has involved their staff, passengers, travel trade plus the staff at the London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury to raise a grand total of over £22,000 plus a further £10,000 donated by Gloria Hunniford (godmother of Magellan) through the Karen Keating Foundation.
Havens Hospices provide care and support for adults, babies, children and young people across Essex with life-limiting illnesses. We must raise over £100,000 each week to be there for everyone who needs us and that’s only possible because of the kindness of our supporters, and the donations made by companies like Cruise & Maritime Voyages. Your donations will truly be helping us fulfill our promise of ‘Making every day count.’”
Mike Hall at CMV said: “We are pleased to help Havens Hospices whenever we have the opportunity. As an Essex based company ourselves we are proud to support a deserving local charity. Columbus is already selling extremely well and proving a popular holiday choice for people living in the south east, providing a convenient start for their cruise holiday.”
