Cirium Global shares the On-Time Performance (OTP) report for September 2024. Cirium defines an on-time flight as one that arrives at its destination airport within 15 minutes of its scheduled arrival time. For the Global Airlines category, only the top 10% of all passenger airlines by capacity are included, with each airline being required to serve at least three regions. For the European Airlines category, only the top 30% of all passenger airlines by capacity are included.
Europe:
- Iberia Express was the regional leader in September with an OTP of 85.08%, an increase of nearly two points over the previous month’s OTP of 83.43%
- SAS closely followed Iberia Express in second place with an OTP of 82.45%, down slightly from 83.53% in August
- Air Europa, Finnair and Norwegian also made the top five, offering customers punctual service on over 79.86% of flights
- No UK airline featured in the top 10 of most punctual European carriers.
Globally:
- Aeromexico is once again the global leader this month with an impressive OTP of 91.13%
- The second spot was taken by Saudia, securing an 89.40% punctuality score, followed by Avianca with 88.74%
- Delta and Qatar took fourth and fifth spot, with 87.81% and 87.35% respectively.
Cancellations:
- Flight cancellations were down globally by 11% in September, with 47,324 cancelled, compared to 52,931 in August.
