A new cruise ship designed specifically for the Chinese market will feature the world’s first onboard Ferrari-branded race track.
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has formed a partnership with Scuderia Ferrari Watches, in a deal that will see the two-level electric go-karting track on the Norwegian Joy branded by the Italian sports car manufacturer.
The Ferrari-branded racetrack will be located on the top deck of the ship, enabling up to 10 drivers at a time to race each other. Passengers booked in Norwegian Joy’s premium areas, The Haven Level and Concierge Level, will be offered complimentary rides.
This is the first time that Scuderia Ferrari Watches has sponsored a go-kart track and the company’s products will be on sale in a retail store adjacent to the track.
The 3,850-passenger Norwegian Joy will be NCL’s first ship purpose-built for the Chinese market. As well as the Ferrari-branded race track, it will feature an open-air laser tag course, a large video game arcade including dodgem cars, two multi-story waterslides, an outdoor park and the line’s largest upscale shopping area, along with themed F&B outlets and wellness facilities.
Commencing this summer, the 333-metre-long, 168,800-gross tonne Norwegian Joy will homeport in Shanghai and Tianjin.
