Cebu Pacific has extended its network on mainland China with the launch of its direct commercial service between Shenzhen and Manila, responding to increased customer demand for leisure and business travel to the region.
Flights between Shenzhen and Manila run four times weekly—every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, beginning 2 July, 2019. At only two hours and 40 minutes’ flying time, the flight departs from Shenzhen in the early morning, enabling travelers to make full use of business hours and make connections to leisure destinations in the Philippines beyond Manila.
“We want to provide our travelers a viable option to reach some of the globe’s most crucial commercial centres today. Our new direct service between Shenzhen and Manila enables faster movement of people and products providing increased mobility and access to some of the fastest-growing economies in the world,” said Chun Kong Kwok, general manager for Greater China of Cebu Pacific.
Kwok added: “Being the first Philippine low-cost carrier to service this route, we are bringing not only livelier trade, but supporting the Philippine Department of Tourism goal of bringing two million Chinese travelers to the Philippines.”
Shenzhen, also known as ‘China’s Silicon Valley’ located in Guangdong Province is one of China’s leading innovation and technology hubs and serves as headquarters for tech giants such as BGI, BYD and Tencent, companies with large teams of millennials – the demographic with the most potential to explore travel abroad. And, as a special economic zone and one of the world’s fast-rising innovation and technology hubs, Shenzhen has a continuous development of rail and road links to other cities within the region, including a branch road that connects to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
Currently, Cebu Pacific flies 23 times weekly between the Philippines and mainland China, with direct flights between Shanghai, Manila and Cebu; as well as Manila and Beijing, Guangzhou and Xiamen. CEB also flies 55 times weekly between Hong Kong and Manila, Cebu, Clark and Iloilo and 20 times weekly between Macau and Manila, Clark and Cebu. The carrier also flies 14 times a week between Manila and Taipei.
