Cathay seeks to expand ASEAN network for further growth
Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam are seen as a significant area for Cathay's expanding network
Cathay Group chief executive Ronald Lam recently concluded a six-day visit to Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, marking the area’s significance to Cathay’s expanding network and future growth.
Lam accompanied Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu as part of a high-level delegation for the six-day tour conducted in the name of economic development.
Lam said of the experience: “Our visit to the three ASEAN countries attests to the immense potential we see in these dynamic regional markets.”
He explained that, as Hong Kong’s flag carrier, Cathay is committed to furthering the growth of SAR as an international aviation hub and enhancing connectivity between it and the Chinese Mainland to the rest of the world.
He further added that the completion of Hong Kong International Airport’s Three-Runway System will unlock great opportunities for the Cathay Group to grow in the future, strengthening its existing routes, and deepening its network and collaboration across ASEAN to take full advantage of its opportunities for growth.
Staying abreast of regional insights
At present, the Cathay Group’s Cathay Pacific and HK Express airlines fly to 17 ASEAN destinations, with over 360 flights a week, proof of its long-standing commitment to promoting global connectivity and solidifying Hong Kong’s international aviation hub status.
Throughout the eye-opening visit, Lam toured a variety of local enterprises and major infrastructure projects within Indochina, gaining valuable insights into their latest developments while seeking out new avenues to foster synergy and strengthen ties in trade, commerce, technology and tourism between Hong Kong and the vibrant ASEAN region.
