Christmas Day 2020 saw the premiere of Bridgerton on Netflix and it quickly became the most-watched show on the platform as the world fell in love with all things 19th century aristocratic London. The Regency era charm, societal scandals, and dreamy stately homes – what’s not to love?
With Season 2 gracing its way onto our screens on March 25th, Holidu, the search engine for holiday rentals, has drawn up a list of five stunning manor houses that will be the ideal location for a Bridgerton-inspired getaway.
1. The Lindens, Dorset
This beautiful manor house has been renovated but still retains its 18th-century charm. Located in the peaceful village of East Lulworth, this residence is an ideal location for those of you wishing to visit Lulworth Castle, Lulworth Cove, or Durdle Door. The house sleeps up to 16 people, making it fit for a royal soirée. Whether you’re most taken by the gracious high ceilings, open fires, parquet wood flooring, there’s something for everyone in this magnificent home. The Lindens is set within acres of its own expansive grounds, with the surrounding woodlands and gardens completely private, with a large terrace for BBQs and al fresco dining, a heated swimming pool for afternoon cooling down, and a private court for a spot of tennis. Prices start at £2,001 per night.
2. Tall John’s House, Powys
Tall John’s House is a stunning Georgian manor house that is set in the Powys region of Wales. The property lies on extensive grounds with a walled garden, a courtyard and ample parking, with fantastic views across the secluded valley to the Black Mountains. The manor house is beautifully decorated and contains antique furniture. The house consists of 11 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, so there is ample space for all guests to feel comfortable. In the surrounding area, you can spend your days walking, fishing, pony trekking and more. Breakfast is included in the rental costs and further meals are available on request for an extra cost, so this is the ideal location for anyone looking to escape somewhere luxurious where self-catering is not required. Prices start at £1,606 per night.
3. Somerset Manor, Somerset
The elegant manor is located in the village of Horsington in Somerset. With space for up to 22 guests across 10 fabulous bedrooms, this luxury property is ideal for a large family getaway. There is a heated pool and sauna, perfect for long relaxing days for guests of all ages. The grounds of the property contain a tennis court and space to play croquet and football in the garden. If the weather doesn’t allow for outdoor activities, there is an indoor snooker room and table tennis indoors, both of which provide great evening entertainment for the whole family. Prices start from £1,539 per night.
4. The Manor, Somerset
The second of our three stunning Somerset properties is this grand Georgian property. Named as ‘The Manor’, this house is set in its own private gated grounds in the heart of the picturesque village of Holcombe. The property has a rich history as it was once the residence of the family of Scott of the Antarctic, the Royal Navy officer and explorer who led two expeditions to the Antarctic regions. From the moment you enter the house, you will be transported back in time by the period features of the grandiose central gallery hallway with its columns, winding staircase and original stained glass roof light. There is a large Drawing room that is perfect for socialising post-dinner. You will not be bored whilst staying here as the house has an abundance of things to keep you occupied. There is a large heated pool and hot tub, a games room, a fully equipped gym, as well as a fully equipped play area outdoors for the little ones
5. Ardington House, Somerset
Last but not least is the fabulous Ardington House. Located in the beautiful rolling hills of the North Wessex Downs with 30 acres of parkland, this family home is big enough to sleep up to 25 people. The property has a feeling of grandeur and is steeped in history, but will also feel incredibly homely and welcoming during your stay. A highlight is the oak-panelled dining room complete with a long mahogany table that seats 18-20 people, being the ultimate evening dinner spot for a large group. Outdoors you have a variety of fun amenities to enjoy, from the heated swimming pool to the trampoline and tennis court. The property is dog-friendly and rental prices start at £2,710 per night.
