BREAKING: Cathay Pacific announces flight cancellations for 4 September
As of press time, around 15 aircraft with affected engine components have been identified
As of 2:53pm (GMT+8), Cathay Pacific released a statement advising that its ongoing maintenance activity for its A350 fleet is well in progress.
However, airline engineers identified at least 15 aircraft with affected engine components that require replacement. Of these, three already underwent successful repairs as of press time.
The remaining aircraft will continue to be out of service until these have been repaired and cleared for operation. Cathay Pacific officials expect that all affected aircraft will resume operations by Saturday, 7th September.
Further cancellations
No other cancellations except for those previously announced are expected for today, 3rd September. Customers impacted by earlier cancellations have already been informed and presented with alternative travel options.
Tomorrow, 4th September, will see the cancellation of an additional ten regional return flights. Despite this, the airline does not see any impact on long-haul services.
Cathay Pacific assures the public that its ongoing concern for the safety of its customers and staff guides all of its decisions at this time. The airline likewise offered a sincere apology for the inconvenience caused, and it continues to ask customers for patience and understanding.
