Copacabana Beach
As perhaps the most famous beach in the world, Copacabana is a must-visit for those venturing to Rio de Janeiro. Situated on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, this beach extends for over 2 miles, showcasing a stretch of fine sand and incredible cityscapes.
From street vendors to volleyball players and sunbathers soaking up the sun, there is always a lot going on here – making it no surprise over 1.1 million pictures have been taken and posted to Instagram on this beautiful beach.
With a wide promenade following the beach, there is also a selection of incredible hotels and restaurants to choose from. One of the most historic and famous is Copacabana Palace, renowned for hosting the likes of Princess Diana and Marilyn Monroe.
Ouro Preto
Ouro Preto is a historic colonial town in Brazil, known for its incredible Baroque architecture. Founded at the end of the 17th century, this town was a focal point of the Gold Rush, making it, at one point, an important colonial mining town.
Today, the city stands as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, drawing in tourists from all over the world, and bringing in over 1.1 million pictures posted on Instagram!
Ouro Preto has maintained much of its original charm, with pristine colonial buildings and a wealth of art, churches, and cobblestone streets to explore.
Ibirapuera Park
As the most visited park in all of South America, Ibirapuera draws in an impressive 14 million visitors per year. This Sao Paulo urban park was inaugurated in 1954 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the city, and offers a diverse array of attractions, including a Japanese Pavilion, the Museum of Modern Art, and many exercise areas, such as tennis courts and skateboard parks, to name a few.
As a place to see some fantastic artwork, it’s worth checking out the museums and the art murals on offer here. Eduardo Kobra, the artist behind the world’s largest street mural in Rio de Janeiro, has created a mural in Ibirapuera Park to mark its 60th anniversary.
With an endless list of things to do and see here, this park has over 1 million pictures posted on Instagram.
