Here is StressFreeCarRental.com’s guide to some of the best fishing spots around the UK and Europe.
River Tay, Perthshire
The River Tay is one of Scotland’s most accessible rivers for salmon fishing due to its size and lock fed water levels. At 120 miles long, there are plenty of good fishing spots. Try close to Islamouth for some of the best fishing. Fly fishing, spinning and traditional boat fishing are among the most popular methods.
Whitby, Yorkshire
Whitby’s piers are a good spot to set up but they can get busy during the summer. During the winter expect to catch cod and whiting and in warmer weather, coalfish, flatfish and mackerel. There are lots of fishing trips leaving from the town.
Sušac, Croatia
Croatia is a great country to fish in with a good choice of lakes, rivers and the Adriatic Sea. Head to the island of Sušac and give spearfishing a try. It’s home to numerous species including gilt-head bream, red scorpion fish, European bass and dusky grouper.
Amadorio Dam, Spain
For freshwater fishing, head to Amadorio Dam on the Costa Blanca. You’ll find black bass, rainbow trout, carp and barbel. It’s the closest reservoir to the sea and covers 318 metres in length. You will need a permit to fish here.
Georgioupoli, Crete
The village of Georgioupoli on the island of Crete is a good place to fish with three rivers reaching the sea meaning lots of freshwater fish. Take a fishing trip to get the full experience of fishing in this beautiful location.
Bornholm, Denmark
Bornholm has 27 fishing ports and an expanse of coastline so you can fish from dry land or head out to sea. Herring, cod, flatfish and sea trout are among the fish you’re likely to catch. If you enjoy fly fishing, head to the south west side of the island.
Sicily, Italy
This beautiful island is one of the prime fishing spots in Italy. Swordfish and bluefin tuna are among the catches along with mackerel and mahi mahi. The island is geared up for fishing with boats ready to take you out to sea around the coastline.
