Belmont Hotel Manila supports the Global Handwashing Partnership
The hotel taught hand hygiene measures to target communities on 15th October
Belmont Hotel Manila supported the Global Handwashing Partnership’s advocacy as it commemorated Global Handwashing Day on Tuesday, 15th October.
In collaboration with Project Pearls, a non-profit organisation focused on community service and scholarships, Belmont Hotel Manila sought to raise awareness about hand hygiene across various communities, including Tondo, Bulacan, and Naic, Cavite.
At target communities, the hotel provided essential hand hygiene supplies, such as soap and sanitiser, empowering individuals with the knowledge and tools necessary to maintain clean hands and reduce the incidence of illness.
To further promote hand cleanliness, the hotel also installed plumbing-free handwashing stations called “tippy taps” in Manila’s Tondo district. Its practical design encourages effective handwashing without requiring plumbing infrastructure.
A push towards healthier living
Global Handwashing Day serves as an important reminder of the vital role proper hand hygiene plays in preventing the spread of diseases, not only within the foodservice industry but also in combating emerging public health threats.
This initiative emphasises that the best defence against many illnesses is consistent handwashing, not costly treatments. Participants will learn how proper hand hygiene can reduce health risks like food poisoning, eye infections, diarrhoea, and respiratory issues, contributing to overall well-being
Belmont Hotel Manila is committed to positively impacting community health and underscores its dedication to sustainability and social responsibility through this initiative.
By fostering hand hygiene awareness, the hotel aspires to equip communities with the skills necessary to protect their health while promoting a culture of wellness.
