According to BCD Travel’s May 2024 survey, APAC travellers are more aware of travel policy than their western counterparts.
Indeed, those surveyed in the region cite a company’s travel policy as either a perk that draws them in to join a firm, or a benefit that encourages them to stay longer with an employer.
Despite this, however, most global travellers remain unaware of their respective companies’ travel policies. As a result, there is still a wide gap between policy awareness and subsequent compliance.
Heightened awareness among Asians
The survey notes that up to 38 percent of travellers from the Asia Pacific stand to consult with or go over their company’s travel policy prior to or during a trip. This is significantly higher than the 19 percent seen among North American travellers.
Up to 45 percent of Asian travellers also said that travel policy is one of the factors that consider their long- or short-term decision to stay with a company. Corporate travel policy is also seen as a major enticement for job-seekers, as up to 16 percent of those surveyed in the Asia Pacific see it as a reason to sign on with a new company.
The more you know
The survey also noted that Asian travellers tend to check their travel policies more than their American counterparts. Around 27 percent of the former check their policies regularly compared to just 14 percent among the latter.
Study findings also show that only 21 percent of American travellers see their company travel policy as good enough to make them stay. The figure is marginally higher among business travellers in Europe and the Middle East, as up to 27 percent will be inclined to stay with companies offering a good travel policy.
