Barrhead Travel has confirmed that an agreement to be acquired by US-based Travel Leaders Group has been completed.
The deal, which was announced last week [1 February, 2018], has been finalised following full exchange of contracts.
Barrhead Travel is now part of Travel Leaders Group’s growing presence in the UK, alongside its brands Colletts Travel, Protravel International UK and Tzell UK.
Together these four brands, along with ALTOUR UK, which specialises in entertainment and corporate travel, now rank among the top travel management companies in the UK.
The Glasgow-based company will retain its brand which was established by founder Bill Munro in 1975. Munro will continue to serve in a strategic advisory role as Chairman of the Barrhead division within Travel Leaders Group, while Barrhead’s chief executive Sharon Munro will continue to manage the business.
No major changes in operations are anticipated, including the terms and conditions of Barrhead’s more than 900 members of staff and agents.

Travel Leaders Group is one of North America’s largest travel companies – with nearly one-third of all travel agents on the continent.
