Passenger traffic at Bangkok’s two airports continued to increase in the first quarter of 2017, albeit at slower, single-digit pace.
According to the latest data from Airports of Thailand (AoT), the main Suvarnabhumi Airport handled 16.1 million passengers in the first three months of the year, up 5.4% compared to Q1 2016. Bangkok’s second airport and low-cost carrier hub, Don Mueang, saw its traffic increase 8.7% to 9.6m.
So in total, Bangkok’s two airports handled more than 25m passengers in Q1 2017, which is usually the city’s busiest quarter.
AoT also revealed that traffic at Phuket International Airport increased 9.1% to 4.7m, while Chiang Mai saw a 10.5% increase to 2.7m passengers.
