Baguio City reports zero crime during Panagbenga 2025
No untoward incidents were recorded throughout the two-day festival
Despite drawing in massive crowds, the northern Philippine city of Baguio declared that no crimes were recorded during this year’s Panagbenga festival.
The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) recorded no criminal incidents during the two grand parades of the Panagbenga festival held on the 22nd and 23rd February.
On Tuesday, 25th February, BCPO director Ruel Tagel declared: “The smooth and orderly conduct of these highly anticipated events was a product of careful planning, strategic coordination, and multi-sectoral collaboration.”
A community working to keep the peace
Tagel added that the BCPO coordinated with the various stakeholders and the organizers to ensure a smooth flow of the activities throughout Panagbenga.
He said: “Months before, BCPO worked with the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation, local government agencies, and key stakeholders to develop comprehensive security and traffic management plans.”
In addition, the city government carried out extensive public information efforts to ensure that safety reminders, road advisories, and other important announcements reached a wide audience through various platforms.
Tagel said personnel augmentation from the regional office and strong police presence, combined with proactive law enforcement measures, effectively deterred criminal activities and ensured a safe environment.
He said: “The success of the events was made possible with the cooperation of the public whose vigilance and adherence to security measures significantly contributed to the safety of all. The peaceful and orderly celebration of Panagbenga is a testament of our collective efforts in keeping Baguio safe.”
The BCPO director further encouraged the public to check out the BCPOView Baguio app for announcements, safety tips, and ordinances being implemented to ensure continued peace and order in this capital city, particularly in the central business district and the different parks and tourist attractions.
