Austrian Airlines recruits 24 new mechatronics apprentices
For all young professionals who are currently looking for an exciting and challenging apprenticeship, there is now some good news: Austrian Airlines is looking for 24 new mechatronics apprentices in Austrian Technik for autumn 2023. The domestic airline has already been promoting young professionals of tomorrow for 25 years: “We offer talented young and motivated people the opportunity to learn from our many years of experience and to gain a foothold in an international company. In return, they bring us inspiration and innovation for the whole company. With 24 new apprenticeships, we are giving almost twice as many young professionals the chance of an exciting and educational training in what is arguably one of the most exciting industries,” says Austrian Airlines COO Francesco Sciortino.
The apprenticeship training, which is carried out in the company’s own apprentice workshop at Vienna Airport, lasts 3.5 years. The apprentices also have the opportunity to complete an “Apprenticeship with Matura” at Austrian in the “Mechatronics Production Technology” sector. Furthermore, they are supervised, challenged and supported by the apprentice trainers and the entire technical team. The apprenticeship includes practical on-the-job training in the specialist workshops and in aircraft maintenance, as well as subject-specific Category A training, which prepares the apprentices for their future working environment. Theoretical training at the professional school as well as further internal and external specialist seminars complete the training programme.
In addition to the various technical tasks, such as manufacturing mechatronic parts, components and systems or learning metalworking, there are also plenty of benefits waiting for the future apprentices. Discounted flight tickets, a company mobile phone or internal events are just a few examples that make the working experience at Austrian Airlines even more exciting.
In April 2022, eleven apprentices successfully completed their final exams. While two of them decided to go to university after completing their apprenticeship, the remaining nine have since been employed as fully trained specialists at Austrian Technik. Next year, it will be possible to take off with an apprenticeship at Austrian Airlines from 01.09.2023. Applications are possible until 19 February 2023.
