Set to open this month, the new Andaz Singapore has announced the appointment of Soren Lascelles as the hotel’s executive chef. In his role, Soren will oversee all culinary operations, from events and catering to each of the four drinking and dining outlets of the hotel.
“I have always had a great admiration for Singapore’s unique culture and cuisine since first visiting in 2002. Fifteen years on, I’m still constantly inspired by this dynamic city and thrilled to be introducing the inspiring Andaz brand to Southeast Asia from this destination,” says Soren.
An adventurous chef who first embarked on his culinary voyage at the age of 17, Soren began his career with multi-award-winning restaurant Banc in Sydney, and at two established Michelin-starred restaurants in London, Nahm and The Ledbury.
Prior to joining Andaz Singapore, he served as executive sous chef at Grand Hyatt Singapore, and began his career with Hyatt Hotels Corporation at Park Hyatt Saigon where he worked as chef de cuisine at Square One.
Soren has been awarded several international accolades, including the 2010 Electrolux Young Chef award in Australia and receiving the Acqua Panna People’s Choice Award at the 2011 Venice World Cooking Cup.
Having received his training in classical French cuisine, Soren will also bring along the extensive experience obtained from his work in independent fine-dining restaurants to both local Singaporean and international guests.
