A new study has revealed that Tinder is the dating platform that Americans are most interested in. The five states searching the most for Tinder on average are Maine (924 average monthly searches per 100,000 residents), North Dakota (875 average monthly searches per 100,000 residents), Montana (815 average monthly searches per 100,000 residents), Wyoming (781 average monthly searches per 100,000 residents), and New Hampshire (780 average monthly searches per 100,000 residents).
- Ashley Madison – 943,744 average monthly searches
Ashley Madison is the second most popular dating platform in America, with 943,744 average monthly searches. The controversial site was created in 2002 and is marketed toward people who are married (or in a committed relationship) and looking to have an affair.
The top five states most interested in Ashley Madison on average were Colorado (405 average monthly searches per 100,000 residents), Utah (342 average monthly searches per 100,000 residents), Nebraska (333 average monthly searches per 100,000 residents), Virginia (326 average monthly searches per 100,000 residents), and Massachusetts (323 average monthly searches per 100,000 residents).
- Zoosk – 931,778 average monthly searches
In third is Zoosk, with 931,778 average monthly searches. Set up in 2007, Zoosk analyzes data on how users use the platform to recommend potential matches to its users.
- Match – 874,253 average monthly searches
With 874,253 average monthly searches, Match is America’s fourth most popular dating platform. Match.com was launched in 1995 and offers online features and in-person events for people to meet others.
- Plenty of Fish – 649,385 average monthly searches
Plenty of Fish is fifth, with 649,385 average monthly searches. Plenty of Fish was founded in 2003 and markets itself on the wide range of ways people can meet on the platform, with people being able to choose features like dating games and live streaming, among others.
- eHarmony – 509,613 average monthly searches
In sixth is eHarmony, with 509,613 average monthly searches. Launched in 2000, eHarmony works by having people fill out their Compatibility Quiz, whose answers then allow them to use matching algorithms to find people who are likely to be compatible.
- Badoo – 447,043 average monthly searches
With 447,043 average monthly searches, Badoo comes in seventh. Launched in 2006, Badoo is a dating-oriented social network where people can find others on the network who are close by in real life, search for others on the app, and use a feature called encounters where users can swipe right on other users’ profiles to like them, and if both users swipe right both are notified.

- Bumble – 406,881 average monthly searches
Rounding out the top 10 is Bumble, with 406,881 average monthly searches. Founded in 2014, Bumble aims to make dating more equal by having women make the first move after a match with a man. The app also allows people to meet new friends and network, not just find potential dates.

The dating platforms Americans are ditching the most
Tinder is not only the most popular dating platform in America, but also the one Americans want to stop using the most, with 21,033 total annual searches in 2023 relating to deleting, uninstalling, or deactivating the app.
eHarmony was second, with 16,735 total annual searches in 2023 relating to delete keywords, while Facebook Dating came third with 8,444 total annual searches relating to delete keywords.
Ashley Madison came in fourth with 5,433 total annual searches relating to delete keywords, Bumble came fifth, with 4,571 total annual delete searches, and Hinge came sixth, with 4,015 total annual delete searches in 2023.
Rounding out the top 10 were Plenty of Fish in seventh (3,960 total annual searches), Ruby in eighth (3,524 total annual searches), Grindr in ninth (2,913 total annual searches), and OkCupid in tenth (2,705 total annual searches).
