Amadeus ramps up Airport IT in APAC with two senior appointments

Amadeus has announced the promotion of Sarah Samuel to head of Airport IT, Asia Pacific and the appointment of Sunil Ankalgi to head of Sales and Account Management for Airport IT, Asia Pacific.
Sarah previously held the role of head of Sales and Account Management, Asia Pacific. In her new position, Sarah will be responsible for growing the Airport IT business in the region, overseeing sales, solution design, delivery, operations, and all commercial aspects of the airport unit within Amadeus. Based in Singapore, her role will ensure that airports, airlines and ground handlers can be successful with Amadeus’ solutions.
Prior to joining Amadeus, Sunil was a senior commercial manager, Airport Services, APAC at SITA INC APAC. In his new role, he will be responsible for selling and managing customer relations in the APAC region.

Commenting on both appointments, John Jarrell, Head of Airport IT, Amadeus, said: “Sarah is well on her way to growing our airport business. Sarah has over 22 years of industry experience, having held roles at SITA, Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Xybase Malaysia before joining Amadeus in 2014.
She said: “I’m passionate not only about growing the Amadeus airport business in APAC, but also about building the next generation of leaders within Amadeus and the wider airport industry. I’m also a strong advocate for diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace, ensuring we have men and women from a variety of situations and backgrounds in our team.”
Sunil also has over 20 years’ experience in sales and business development with 11 years of business development and sales of airport systems in APAC.
“I will continue the good work in my new role at Amadeus in the APAC region and am excited to be part of a team that is leading a change to deliver greater benefits to the industry,” Sunil said.
