The biggest challenges facing the independent tour operator and travel agent in 2018, as well as opportunities for the year ahead were discussed at Aito’s annual domestic conference.
AITO operators, agents and affiliates attended the event from 6 – 7 January held for the third year at Jurys Inn Hinckley Island Hotel.
With 163 delegates in attendance (68 agents, 71 tour operators and 24 affiliates/guests), the conference programme included networking opportunities, business sessions and workshops, and also celebrated the achievements of AITO Agents, who were rewarded at the annual All Stars and Excellence Programme Awards Ceremony.
Business sessions
The conference theme was ‘Partners in Excellence’ and the business sessions featured discussions led by Sam Clark, MD of the Experience Travel Group, on providing clients with exceptional experiences, and keynote speaker Ted Welman, co-founder of Doctors Adrift, on the challenges of his ambitious sailing expeditions for charity.
Networking and Inspired Learning
The AITO Mega Marketplace took place with over 700 pre-arranged appointments. Agents had the chance to network with a range of AITO operators and affiliates and to learn about new holiday ideas, trends and destinations for 2018.
