Nuki, a smart lock innovator, has announced it is working with to make locking and unlocking doors easier – and much cooler.
Nuki is one of Europe’s leading providers of ‘retrofit smart access solutions’ – simply put, the company makes devices that turns your smartphone into a door key. The new technology is being introduced to Airbnb, a company which also happens to be a revolutionary when it comes to accommodation solutions.
The Nuki Smart Lock can be easily put on top of existing locks to turn it into an app-based, keyless entry system. After a quick installation of a Nuki Smart Lock, hosts simply need to log into the online Nuki web platform, link the Nuki Smart Lock to their Airbnb account, and voila, the guest is granted access to the rented home.
“Simplifying life with our products is the perfect match for Airbnb”
“Airbnb is constantly investing in its community to improve the quality and experience for hosts and guests. At Nuki, we believe that our dedication to simplifying life with our products is the perfect match for Airbnb,” explained Martin Pansy, founder and CEO of Nuki Home Solutions.
How it works
Once a booking is confirmed with a host using a Nuki Smart Lock, they’ll automatically receive a message mentioning the listing has a smart lock enabled. A link will be shared, so they can download the Nuki app and use it as a way to lock and unlock the door. The Nuki app, which is available for free on Android and iOS, will then give access, although limited to the duration of the stay.
According to Nuki, hosts are not required to purchase the Nuki Smart Lock, but they can purchase it for a premium price (-50 Euros compared to standard prices) via the Host Assist page.
Nuki can provide 24/7 check-ins and checkouts so that would be a big plus. It will offer the option of getting rid of physical key handover ‘ceremonies’ – perfect for those who want to remain incognito, might be too busy, too shy, or just straight up don’t want to meet in person. In addition, individual access permissions can be managed on the app, and a detailed activity log will provide an added sense of security for both guests and hosts.
“The new partnership makes hosting and travelling smarter and more fun than before”
Pansy added: “By facilitating 24/7 check-ins, remote access rights management and keyless access for guests and caretakers, the new partnership makes hosting and travelling smarter and more fun than before. We know that a lot of Nuki users already successfully host with the support of our product portfolio. Convenience and security are of utmost importance for us. Therefore, we believe to be the perfect fit for Airbnb hosts”.
