Air New Zealand introduces new Airpoints experience
The new programme promises better benefits for members
Over 4.6 million Air New Zealand Airpoints users stand to enjoy a new digitised experience as the airline rolls out the first phase of its improved membership programme.
The first phase of improvement involves a new look to the programme’s online interface. The second involves new user tiers and benefits.
For now, Airpoints members enjoy a more modern look and feel after login, making it easier to view your Airpoints benefits and activity; the ability to share Airpoints Dollars with up to ten different people within New Zealand, making group travel planning more convenient and inclusive for members.
Tier review dates have also been simplified. This means that, if a member retains their current tier, they begin a new membership year and receive their benefits immediately.
Transparent and member-centric
According to Air New Zealand’s chief digital officer Nikhil Ravishankar, the Airpoints programme remains transparent and member-centric. Members can still redeem Airpoints Dollars across all Air New Zealand flights, as well as on the Airpoints Store.
Ravishankar said: “Over the coming 12 months Airpoints members will have more earning power with more partners, more rewards and a new tier, further enhancing the value of the programme. The refreshed benefits and the new tier will be announced next year, introducing new benefits for Air New Zealand’s most loyal customers.”
Time for improvements
Ravishankar explained that the airline needed to invest in relevant technologies to create these customer enhancements during a scheduled maintenance period.
Over the next twelve months, further enhancements will be made to the programme, including new benefits for those in the Silver, Gold, and Elite member tiers; the introduction of a new tier; as well as improvements to the recognition upgrade process.
