Digital travel platform Agoda revealed its top ten list of Asia’s most desirable beach destinations ahead of International Beach Day on 1st September, with Bali taking the top spot.
This year’s top ten are, in order: Bali, Indonesia; Okinawa, Japan; Da Ng, Vietnam; Pattaya, Thailand; Phuket, Thailand; Nha Trang, Vietnam; Jeju, South Korea; Penang, Malaysia; Boracay, Philippines; and Cebu, Philippines.
This year’s list was determined by the number of accommodation searches made on Agoda for September and October per destination, and highlights the most sought-after coastal getaways.
The Agoda rankings also showcase a diverse array of beach destinations that cater to various preferences, from serene retreats to vibrant beach parties.
According to Agoda senior vice-president for supply Andrew Smith: “With the monsoon season drawing to a close in many parts of Asia, travelers are eagerly anticipating the sun, sand, and sea. Asia boasts some of the world’s most stunning beaches, and International Beach Day is the perfect time to celebrate these coastal treasures.”
Bali high
The Indonesian destination’s popularity continues to grow as Agoda recorded an 11 percent increase in Bali-related accommodation searches compared to the same period last year.
Other beach hotspots that made it into the list are Okinawa in Japan and Da Nang in Vietnam, with both making it into the top three.
Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines each boast two destinations in the top ten, underscoring their popularity among beachgoers.
