Digital travel platform Agoda has partnered with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the Saturday School Foundation to organize Agoda Tech Day Camp, a series of tech workshops for high school and university students in 2023. A group of 60 students from Bangkok’s Na Luang High School attended the first workshop last Friday.
Leading representatives from all organizations attended the workshop as guests, including Governor of Bangkok Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Deputy Governor of Bangkok Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Principal of Na Luang High School Ms. Penluck Bunkhwamdee, and Agoda’s Chief Executive Officer Omri Morgenshtern. The workshop was hosted by Thai tech professionals working at Agoda, developing a unique and independent curriculum to teach students how to create websites using tools like React-Bootstrap.
The content of the workshop was co-developed with the Saturday School Foundation, who served as an educational advisor to ensure that the workshops address the students’ needs. As a tech company, Agoda is passionate about technology-related activities, such as tech education, hackathons, and its flagship annual coding competition Codegoda.
Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, expressed his enthusiasm for working with Agoda to advance technological education. He stated, “Educating the next generation to learn and adapt to technologies is one of our major goals to improve the vibrant city of Bangkok. The ‘Agoda Tech Day Camp’ initiative can help us foster a digital mindset for Thai students from an early stage.” He also hopes to collaborate with other public or private organizations in the future to prepare the future workforce for the upcoming technology-driven era.
Mr. Omri Morgenshtern, Chief Executive Officer, Agoda, expressed his delight in collaborating with BMA to help familiarize the next generation with big data and technology. In his own words, he believes that “As a leading tech company and online travel platform, we see it as our duty to invest this knowledge and know-how back into society so that the leaders of tomorrow have the right skills and foundation to succeed.”
Tech Day Camp is part of an on-going partnership between Agoda and BMA. Recent projects include the Urban Tree Planting Initiative, Action Day PM 2.5 BKK, and the Community Based Tourism Support Initiative at Talad Noi.
