AE Expeditions (part of Aurora Expeditions) in partnership with Explore Worldwide, is inviting agents across the UK to participate in a series of clean up events to support the annual Clean up for Sarah initiative.
Clean up for Sarah is an AECO and IAATO initiative in honour of Sarah Auffret, a beloved environmental warrior, polar guide, expedition leader, Antarctic base leader and environmental agent at AECO who tragically lost her life in a plane crash in 2019. As a passionate environmentalist, Sarah had led the expedition cruise industry’s efforts to combat marine plastic pollution. Clean-ups now take place worldwide annually in Sarah’s honour between 11-19 June, also coinciding with her birthday on 16 June.
AE Expeditions’ Sales Director EMEA, Andrew Turner commented: “We’re very proud to participate in this initiative to honour Sarah’s incredible work and advocacy for protecting the world’s marine environments. These cleanups remove thousands of kilograms of rubbish from local environments every year, and we look forward to spending the morning with our agent partners contributing to our local communities in a meaningful way.”
Clean-ups start at 10am and equipment will be provided. Participants can join for as long as they prefer.
Clean-ups will take place at the following locations:
- 11th June: Chester – The Wales Coastal Path
- 12th June: Woking – Pyford Lock
- 14th June: Norfolk – Winterton Beach
If agents are unable to attend, the teams at AE Expeditions and Explore encourage them to participate in their local areas and share their clean-up photos.
