ABTA at World Travel Market London 2022
This year’s WTM is going to be one of the most interesting and rewarding for many years, given that COVID-19 travel restrictions have lifted around the world. WTM (7-9 November at ExCeL, London) is always an inspiring few days and offers unparalleled business and networking opportunities as travel companies and suppliers gather from all over the world to meet up to re-establish or create new partnerships.
It is an extremely important event for ABTA. They will have a team on hand in our business lounge (South Gallery Lounge 29) to meet up with current ABTA Members, partners and colleagues from destinations. Please feel free to go and see them. The importance of WTM to destinations is hard to overestimate, with their stands making up the bulk of the exhibitors.
Governments also recognise the value of attending the event. Throughout the event, senior members of the ABTA leadership team will be meeting with tourism ministers and other important decision-makers to discuss mutual issues and ways of working together. These face-to-face interactions have been largely missing throughout the pandemic and it is great to be able to meet up again in this way.
The world’s media will also be present, a recognition of the immense economic importance of travel and tourism for many countries and, in particular, the contribution of the overseas UK travel industry. ABTA spokespeople will be on hand to conduct interviews and discuss the prospects for travel in 2023, as we deal with ongoing economic uncertainty.
ABTA’s latest Holiday Habits 2022 report, shows that people have missed out on being able to travel. Despite the rising cost of living, holidays remain a spending priority, and, encouragingly, many of our Members have also been reporting a high level of demand for holidays next year.
