The hotel serves up star power during the Summer of Tennis
Sofitel Melbourne On Collins brings the city’s vibrant Summer of Tennis to life in a spectacular activation that blends sport, luxury, and sophistication.
Located just 1.6kms from Melbourne Park where the Australian Open takes place, many rooms at Sofitel Melbourne On Collins boast views over the precinct, making guests feel like they are part of the action from above.
Fans of the Australian Open can watch the day games live in Sofi’s Lounge from 11AM to 7PM, where a tennis pop-up will include a giant TV screen, deck chairs, and a Pommery Champagne Lounge to bring the atmosphere of Summer of Tennis to life.
Guests and members of the public can enjoy all the action, without the crowds.
A tête-à-tête with a rising star
The hotel serves up star power during the Summer of Tennis, with Olympic gold medallist Qinwen Zheng.
Sofitel Melbourne On Collins hosted an exclusive VIP event for their high-valued guests and partners prior to the world’s fifth-ranked tennis player’s appearance at the Australian Open, as Zheng recently progressed to Round Two and is one to watch this year.
General manager Stephan Leroy said of this: “This activation with Qinwen Zheng is a prime example of how we go above and beyond to create memorable experiences for our guests, ensuring every visiting athlete feels at home.”
Zhang was a special guest for an exclusive Q&A conducted by Samuel Begg, the content creator behind Instagram tennis channel @hitwithme.
The interview covered how Zheng felt about being back in Melbourne, her experiences staying in hotels, her gold medal finish at the Paris Olympics, and her preparations for the Australian Open 2025.
One of the sport’s most exciting young talents, Zheng made history by securing China’s first-ever gold medal in tennis.
She also has a passion for fashion, style, and beauty being the first athlete to grace the cover of Vogue China; it has also been announced that she is now the global ambassador for French fashion house Dior.
