Stay alert about ETA updated requirements
The most imminent change starts on January 8, 2025, from when eligible non-European visitors, including those from the US, Canada, and Australia, will need to obtain the UK’s Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before traveling.
Holger Luikenga, VP Global Services Amex GBT, with regard to the updated ETA requirements said that: “Ahead of the holiday season, travellers and businesses should be prepared for significant changes to travel authorization requirements for visitors to the UK.
And from April 2, 2025, eligible European travelers will also need an ETA. The application process involves a £10 fee, a valid passport, and personal and trip-related information.
Applicants typically receive approval within three business days, although some cases may take longer, so it’s advisable to apply online for ETAs well in advance of planned trips. Once approved, the ETA will be electronically linked to the traveler’s passport and will remain valid for multiple visits over two years or until the passport expires.
