ATIA upholds commitment to safeguard members’ data

The Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the sensitive financial data of its members in light of ongoing preparations for the FY24 accreditation-renewal period.

Today, 3rd December, the Association provided its members with an update on its robust privacy and data security measures.

ATIA remains committed to the highest standards of data security and confidentiality. All financial data provided by members is protected through advanced technological safeguards, strict protocols and dedicated oversight. 

As ATIA chief executive Dean Long puts it: “As we approach the FY24 accreditation-renewal period, members can be confident in ATIA’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding their privacy and maintaining the highest standards of data security. ATIA takes its responsibility to protect member financial data very seriously. We’ve implemented stringent processes and technology to ensure that sensitive information remains secure and confidential. Access is highly limited.”

Necessary measures in place

In order to do this, ATIA implements the following measures

• Controlled access to financial data: Access to members’ financial data is strictly limited to the two designated Compliance team members and the Compliance Manager. Neither the CEO nor ATIA Board Members have access to this information, ensuring confidentiality and impartiality. (Note, where a member’s accreditation is cancelled, the CEO may be provided access to their financial statement if an appeal is lodged).
• Advanced cybersecurity measures: ATIA’s system includes multi-factor authentication, firewall protection and a comprehensive incident response plan backed by cyber insurance.
• Data anonymisation: Member financial data is anonymised by removing business names and contact details, further protecting identities in the unlikely event of unauthorised access.
• Strict confidentiality agreements: All ATIA staff sign annual confidentiality agreements as part of the organisation’s commitment to upholding privacy standards.
