FlixBus, Europe’s biggest bus operator has officially launched its much-anticipated bus services in South India, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion journey in India.
Starting September 10, FlixBus will operate six key routes connecting Bengaluru with Chennai and Hyderabad. This initial rollout will connect Bengaluru to 33 cities, offering over 200 connections, including popular destinations like Vijayawada, Madurai, Belgaum, and Coimbatore.
Earlier this year in February, the German bus company launched its operations in India, marking the company’s entry into its 43rd country worldwide. The initial phase began on February 6 with over 200 daily connections across 59 stops in 46 Indian cities, including Ayodhya, Lucknow, Dehradun, Manali, and Jodhpur, with Delhi as a hub. This expansion into South India marks the second phase of their launch, further solidifying FlixBus’s presence in the country.
Daniel Krauss, Co-founder of FlixBus, shared the company’s excitement, stating, “With this launch, FlixBus now operates in 33 cities across South India, bringing our total network to 101 cities nationwide. This expansion is a crucial step in our mission to provide accessible, sustainable, and technology-driven transportation across India.”
Surya Khurana, MD of FlixBus India, emphasized the importance of this move, saying, “Following our successful operations in North India, expanding to South India is the next step in revolutionizing intercity travel. The positive feedback from our customers and bus partners strengthens our belief in the power of our technology-driven model. This isn’t just about adding new routes; it’s about empowering local operators with our digital platform, ensuring seamless travel for passengers, and contributing to a more sustainable environment.”
Looking ahead, FlixBus has ambitious plans to introduce even more routes across Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala, further solidifying its presence in the Indian market.
