Tuu launches first-ever Eco Stay Awards
The sustainability tracking platform seeks to recognise hotels in Asia dedicated to environmentally-friendly stays
Seeking to recognise hotels going the extra mile to protect the environment through more sustainable stays and experiences, sustainability tracking platform Tuu announced its first-ever Eco Stay Awards for 2025.
The Eco Stay Awards are, to date, the only dedicated and data-backed sustainability recognition for hotels in Asia. These are designed to celebrate genuine eco-achievements in the hospitality industry, standing strong against greenwashing through rigorous data submission, auditing, and expert judging.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony on 28th March 2025 in Phuket, Thailand.
Giving a voice to those who deserve it
According to Tuu founder Terry Blackburn: “We aim to foster a collaborative environment among hotels, encourage environmental responsibility, share best practices, and help combat greenwashing. Our initiative aims to give a voice to those who genuinely deserve it and are making significant eco-progress in key areas such as energy and food waste reduction.”
Blackburn explained that any hotel’s marketing claim to sustainable practices needs to be backed by data for it to qualify for the awards.
As he puts it: “Hotels already tracking their sustainability performance with certifications like Green Key, Green View, ISO, or Earth Check are encouraged to enter. This allows them to maximise the value of their existing sustainability data and amplify their marketing through compelling, data-backed storytelling.”
The Awards are also geared towards helping hotels stand out among c-suite executives who consider a property’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) credentials when planning MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) activities.
