Vietnam Airlines launches nonstop Hanoi-Phnom Penh flights
Flights between the two capitals commence on 27 October
Vietnam Airlines announced the launch of its new nonstop service between Hanoi and Phnom Penh during the state visit of Vietnamese President To Lam to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
The new route takes flight on 27 October with a frequency of four flights a week on Mondays. Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays on Airbus A321. This makes travel between the two Indochina capitals more convenient as those travelling from Hanoi to Phnom Penh currently need to transit via Vientiane, Laos.
The direct route likewise brings Vietnam Airlines’ total number of routes between Vietnam and Cambodia to five by the end of October. These include four direct routes: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh; Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap; and one Indochina route. The total number of flights between the two countries will reach 86 per week.
Aside from announcing the new route, Vietnam Airlines also signed cooperation agreements with key partners in Cambodia to foster aviation and tourism development between the two countries.
Convenience through active collaboration
Expanding routes to Cambodia has always been a strategic priority for the carrier, reflecting the close ties between the two neighbouring countries. This expansion has gone on since the flight routes from Vietnam to Cambodia and vice versa were established over 30 years ago.
According to Vietnam Airlines chairman of the board Dang Ngoc Hoa: “As the flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines is committed to providing the safe and efficient operation of Cambodian service. We will continue to expand our network, enhance cooperation, and improve competitiveness and service quality to meet passenger expectations.”
Dang added that this and other collaborative initiatives are geared towards supporting mutual economic, social, and cultural development, as well as fostering cooperative relations between Vietnam and Cambodia.
