Air Astana donates upcycled aircraft furniture to Almaty Airport
Unique items created by Almaty artists are installed in the new international terminal
The Air Astana ‘Upcycling for the Future’ project involves the creative recycling of used aircraft parts, with furniture having been previously exhibited at various locations across Almaty since 2022. The aim of the project is to promote sustainability and reduce environmental impact.
The furniture items were produced by local artists using parts from an Airbus A321 fuselage and interior structures from a Boeing B767.
“Air Astana is committed to the principles of sustainable development,” comments Yulia Lim, Air Astana Director of Compliance and Sustainability. “The Upcycling for the Future project is an example of the careful approach to managing resources and recycling, which is a strategic priority for Air Astana. We are delighted that this unique aircraftfurniture is being installed in the new Almaty Airport international terminal, where passengers will be reminded of the importance of sustainable development.”
