Waldorf Astoria Doha West Bay announces the appointment of its Management team. Hilton has assembled a highly experienced team of senior hospitality professionals who will lead the pre-opening team for the luxury hotel, set to open in 2023.
Andreas Jersabeck, General Manager of Waldorf Astoria Doha West Bay, boasts over 40 years of international hospitality experience, having worked with some of the world’s leading Hilton brands across the UK, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, including the iconic London Hilton on Park Lane, The Trafalgar London, Hilton Doha, Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik, Conrad Istanbul Bosphorus, Tokyo Bay Hilton and Conrad Dubai. A truly global hotelier, Andreas will implement his strategic vision, as well as bring his passion for hospitality and luxury service to the Waldorf Astoria Doha West Bay team.
Director of Operations, Joost H.P.E. Folkers, brings strategic expertise from a creative, innovation and crisis management standpoint. A Dutch national and lifelong expat who possesses valuable knowledge in pre-opening operations and an impressive career spanning over 5 continents – from the Resorts of Hawaii, Maldives and the Philippines to W San Francisco, Nikki Beach Worldwide and a private member’s club in Hong Kong – Joost is working to conceptualise a seamless guest journey through the hotel’s food & beverage venues, the four-storey spa, wellness activities, and external experiences.
Taking the lead as Commercial Director, Ewoud Roosjen, hailing from his native Netherlands, joins Waldorf Astoria Doha West Bay as a seasoned hospitality professional and an invaluable asset to the team. During his time at the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, he established and maintained a global network of travel industry leaders, allowing him to make the upcoming hotel launch a benchmark in the GCC region and one of the top luxury hotels in the world.
The Executive Committee stands enriched by a team of devoted hospitality professionals and distinguished experts within the industry, who will ensure the highest level of luxury service is delivered to guests. Fueled by motivation and enthusiasm, Elias J. Ajaka is appointed as Director of Finance, and Sirena Di Martino as Director of Human Resources, both bringing a wealth of experience through their know-how of luxury lifestyle and food & entertainment standards.
German Executive Chef, Thomas Jakobi, has over 30 years of culinary experience in leading luxury 5-star properties across Asia, Europe and the Middle East, including Six Senses in Thailand, Hilton Tokyo, and Hideaway Zighy Bay in Oman to name a few. Thomas will bring innovation, creativity and energy to the property’s hospitality experience. His vision is for each dining concept to have its own unique identity, and establish Waldorf Astoria Doha West Bay as a destination spot in Qatar’s culinary scene. Chef Thomas’s cooking philosophy and style could be described in one word with ‘Quintessence’, which to him means mindful consumption through eating seasonal, sustainable, and local produce.
Appointed Director of Food & Drink, Giuseppe Soccio is a highly accomplished professional with over 17 years of experience in the industry. He has earned a reputation for delivering exceptional results in Italy and GCC countries across several prestigious hotel brands, such as The Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons, as well as hospitality groups including Zuma and Nammos, receiving a number of accolades along the way. With his attention to detail and ability to lead and motivate teams, Giuseppe will leverage his expertise and knowledge to enhance the customer dining experience.
Nazley Mohamed, in the role of Spa Director, boasts an impressive resume with over 20 years of expertise in the dynamic wellness industry. Her professional trajectory features notable tenures with world-renowned brands such as Mandarin Oriental and Anantara and pivotal properties including The Chedi Muscat and Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi. She is a proficient, results-focused leader, poised to spearhead the launch of the Waldorf Astoria Spa with a revolutionary wellness journey that balances tradition with cutting-edge technology, culminating in a distinctive and superior experience that sets a new industry standard.
