Mott 32 Chinese Restaurant – Capture a Culinary Journey at The Standard Bangkok Mahanakorn
Mott 32 at The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon is fast becoming an all time favourite of mine. Firstly I adore the building and its unique cut-out pixelated design that soars skyward. It is Thailand’s tallest building.
Secondly I am a great fan of dim sum. Add elegant, luxurious surroundings and outstanding effortless service that is simply world-class, under the watchful eye of Restaurant Manager Pui and her team, and you have a winning recipe.
Nestled in the heart of the city, Mott 32 aims to capture the hearts and taste buds of locals and visitors alike with the introduction of the new menu. I surrendered easily – happily captured! Caught in a delicious net of satisfaction!
The restaurant takes it name from the iconic Chinese convenience store on 32 Mott Street in New York City, signifying its ties to modern Hong Kong and Chinese dining. As the world’s first luxury Chinese brand to successfully expand from the East to the West, Mott 32 has carved its place in the global culinary landscape, with locations in Vancouver, Las Vegas, Seoul, Singapore, Bangkok, Cebu and Dubai.
Mott 32 has launched a new set lunch menu and it was my first opportunity to experience the affordable gastronomic experience.
Based on tradition and locally sourced ingredients, Mott 32’s new set lunch menu was a delicious dining experience, offering premium Chinese fare. Priced at THB 980++ per person, the four-course set lunch commenced with a tantalising selection of dim sum. We were treated to an array of flavours, including the succulent King Prawn Har Gow, the slightly sweet, meaty prawn filling in a wrapper, which neither was neither too thin nor too thick, just the perfect thickness . Next followed an amazing Sugar-Coated BBQ Iberico Pork Bun (delicious and with a crunchy), and the classic Pork Shanghainese Soup Dumpling and Cold Free-Range Chicken, Coriander, Celery and Black Truffle accompanied with Marinated Cucumber ,Garlic and Vinegar.
The gastronomic journey continued with main course, savory Braised Pork Ribs or the delicious Fish Fillet Poached in Szechuan Pepper Broth. As a special treat our host had also pre-ordered one of the specialties of the house, the unctuous Barbeque Iberico Pork Char Siu which was truly the best I have ever tasted!
Note: To ensure availability of the Signature sought-after dishes like the Pork Char Siu, it is highly recommended to pre-order them as soon as possible after making your reservation, or at least 24 hours in advance. This allows the talented culinary team at Mott 32 to meticulously prepare them.
Mott 32 takes the classic Cantonese barbecue dish to new heights. The succulent pork is marinated in a sweet and savory glaze and cooked to perfection, ensuring a melt-in-your-mouth experience that is rich in flavor. I could have eaten it all day!
And onwards to a sweet finale of Guava Soup with Sago and Pomelo, a refreshing and satisfying conclusion to a memorable meal. The Mott 32 set lunch is available from Monday to Friday, providing the perfect opportunity for business lunches or social gatherings from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.
In my research for this article I came across this gem, this snippet of “who we are….”
“The provenance of Mott 32 is in our ingredients which are of paramount importance to us as we embrace unique flavours discovered globally. We practice ethical sourcing by using organic and sustainable ingredients, wherever possible, while also working closely with farms to ensure the uncompromising quality of the food our culinary team prepares.”
