The festival of colors is right around the corner, and many in India are looking to celebrate in style. Insights from digital travel platform Agoda reveal over 2.5 times more searches for Holi travel compared to last year, despite March 8 – the date of the popular festival – falling on a Wednesday this year.
Goa, the party capital with its gorgeous beaches, takes the crown in terms of most popular destinations. The metropolises of New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and the pink, historic city of Jaipur complete the top five, respectively.
“2023 is a highly promising year for the travel and tourism industry,” said Krishna Rathi, Country Director India at Agoda. “We saw it around Republic Day, and now the search data shows a similar pattern for Holi: There’s a prevalent desire to travel among us Indians, and we’re ready to make the most of every special occasion that comes along.”
To help enjoy not just a seamless and hassle-free travel experience, but also a budget-friendly one, Agoda offers many deals on its platform that Indian travelers can take advantage of. For those that like to celebrate Holi a bit further from home, there are extra discounts available when accommodation and flights are booked together on Agoda.
